GOD AIN’T NO JOKE is the brainchild of veteran producer and celebrity manager, Charles Kane. This groundbreaking project, a TV pilot, is the result of Kane’s creative drive and seventeen years of experience producing auditions for Def Comedy Jam and the Aspen/HBO-U.S. Comedy Festival. He also served as talent consultant for BET Comic View. And, he manages the career of comedian/actor Dante Carter. GOD AIN’T NO JOKE will showcase some of the biggest names in gospel comedy as well as up-and-coming comedians. The historic Ebenezer A.M.E. Church in Fort Washington, Maryland is the host/sponsor of this event, which takes place in November. GOD AIN’T NO JOKE promises to deliver wholesome, family-oriented entertainment—a long awaited for alternative to the often blue and raunchy secular fare. The God Ain't No Joke © Comedy Fest and TV Pilot is a groundbreaking venture in inspirational entertainment. This is the first taping of its kind in the Washington metropolitan area. The theme of the show is "Catch the spirit of laughter." With the failing economy and war, we need to laugh for a moment to release stress from the cares of life. God Ain't No Joke © is a show that you will definitely tune in to view each week to get your laugh on. Everyone enjoys hearing a good joke or two. Some of us are familiar with the comedy personalities from HBO's Def Comedy Jam and BET's Comic View . Much of the material isn't designed for the whole family to sit and watch together. However, in the near future you will have the opportunity to witness God Ain't No Joke © with your entire family.
God Ain't No Joke © was taped in November before a live audience at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church in Fort Washington , Maryland . Ebenezer A.M.E. WASHINGTON, DC - October 21, 2004 - The live tapings of the new television pilot "God Ain't No Joke" Comedy Fest will be held on Friday, November 12, at 6, 8 and 10pm and on Saturday, November 13, at 8 and 10 pm at Ebenezer AME Church, 7707 Allentown Road in Fort Washington, MD. The five shows are free to the public. "God Ain't No Joke" is a groundbreaking television pilot featuring the world's funniest inspirational comics. The shows will be hosted by inspirational comics in the forefront of this emerging art form, and many have performed on televised comedy shows such as BET's Comic View, HBO's Def Comedy Jam, and Showtime At The Apollo. Some of the featured hosts and comedians are Sean Sarvis, Chocolate, Horace Sanders, Willie Brown, Meshelle Forman-Shields and Mike Washington.
